EASTSIDE HEARTBEATS OPENED CINCO de MAYO IN BOYLE HEIGHTS

The Eastside Heartbeats it's a fictional story loosely based on Cannibal and the Headhunters a group from East LA who had a giant hit land of a thousand dances. They ended up with them opening for the Beatles at the Hollywood Bowl. The music and acting is great. The theater is located at the corner of 1st and St. Louis in Boyle Heights performances are Friday night Saturday matinee and evening and Sunday afternoon tickets are reasonably priced and you can see the play until the end of May.
Eastside Heartbeats tells the fictional story of Jimmy Ramirez, leader of the four-man vocal group, the Eastside Heartbeats. The group has conquered East L.A., but Jimmy and the others have bigger goals. They aim to be #1 in the nation, Mexican-American superstars. But first they have to make a record. EASTSIDE HEARTBEATS is inspired by the true story of Cannibal and the Headhunters, the musical group which opened for The Beatles at the Hollywood Bowl in 1965.
The Cannibal and the Headhunters, got on the Beatles tour not only opened for the Beatles at the Hollywood Bowl, but also opened for them at White Sox Stadium in Chicago. One of their biggest hits Land of a 1,000 Dances, became their anthem song, put their own spin to the song.
Written by Tom Waldman, with Music and Lyrics by James Holvay,
David Reyes and Rudy Salas, under the direction of Steve E. Feinberg and under the musical direction of David St. Germain, the show is choreographed by Urbanie Lucero.
The cast of 19 includes: Kenneth Lopez, Marco Infante, Jesse Maldonado and
Matthew Ramos as the singing group the Eastside Heartbeats, as well as Gabriel Gonzales, Diana Castrillon, Angel Galvan, Bernardita Nassar, Jordan Charles, Jahmaul Bakare, Katie Kitani, Taleen Shrikian, April Sheets, Andrew Joseph Perez, Sebastian Gonzalez, Vanessa Benavente, Tatiana Gomez, Benjamin Perez and Isabel Serrano.
The EASTSIDE HEARTBEATS Band consists of: Gary St. Germain,
James Holvay, Christian Burrolla, Chris Diaz and Peter A. Zavala.
On May 5, 2016 Cinco de Mayo celebration of the Eastside of Los Angeles as a Brown Fist Productions in association with CASA 0101 Theatre opened the EASTSIDE HEARTBEATS in Boyle Heights. The Eastside Heartbeats, is a New Rock ‘n’ Roll Musical. The musical will be doing performances from May 5-29, 2016. It will be running on Fridays at 8:00p.m., Saturdays at 3:00 p.m. and on Sundays at 5:00 pm.

HOT MUSIC, COOL OCEAN BREEZES, AND HUGE CROWDS AT DOHNEY BLUES FESTIVAL
The19th annual Dohney Blues Festival was held on May 21-22 2016 at the Doheny State Beach in Dana Poiint. Artists from as far away as England came to perform at this festival.
The ocean breeze was nice at the Doheny Blues Festival, to match the great array of artists , and the crowds were large throughout the weekend. Walter Trout drew a huge crowd at Doheny Blues Festival sounded great. Michael Lee drummer for Walter Trout dancing with his best girl.
The record company when he sits down and plays slide guitar he sounds like Johnny Winter. Roy Rogers just killed it during his performance at the Doheny Blues Festival, and plans are in the works for him to come to the Arcadia Blues Club in the future.

LOS ANGELES, CA – The Academy today announced its June slate of Los Angeles and New York programs: a “Boyz N the Hood” 25th anniversary celebration, a digital restoration premiere of Alfred Hitchcock’s “Rebecca” and a 60th anniversary screening of the George Stevens epic “Giant.” The events will be highlighted by onstage discussions with a wide range of special guests, including filmmakers John Singleton and Gregory Nava, novelist Walter Mosley, actress Elsa Cárdenas, and visual effects artist Rob Legato.

25th Anniversary Celebration: Cast and Crew Reunion Friday, June 10, at 7:30 p.m.

This 25th anniversary screening at the Academy’s Samuel Goldwyn Theater includes an onstage panel discussion with members of the film’s cast and crew, including Oscar®-nominated writer-director John Singleton, producer Steve Nicolaides, editor Bruce Cannon, composer Stanley Clarke and former Columbia Pictures executive Stephanie Allain.
The Los Angeles celebration will continue the following week at the Academy’s Linwood Dunn Theater with screenings of two of Singleton’s later films, “Baby Boy” (2001) and “Rosewood” (1997).

This 25th anniversary screening in New York City will be followed by an onstage conversation between Oscar-nominated writer-director John Singleton and acclaimed novelist Walter Mosley. The event is part of the Academy’s Spotlight on Screenwriting series.
“REBECCA” Digital Restoration Premiere Wednesday, June 1, at 7:30 p.m. Samuel Goldwyn Theater, Beverly Hills
Two-time Oscar-winning visual effects artist Rob Legato will offer background notes and visual design insight at the premiere of a new 4K digital restoration of Alfred Hitchcock’s “Rebecca” (1940). The film received Oscars® for Best Picture and Black-and-White Cinematography, as well as nine additional nominations. The print is courtesy of the Walt Disney Studios, which supervised the restoration.
“GIANT” 60th Anniversary Screening: The George Stevens Lecture Series Thursday, June 23, at 7:30 p.m. Samuel Goldwyn Theater, Beverly Hills
As part of its George Stevens Lecture series, the Academy will celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Best Picture nominee “Giant” with a screening and onstage conversation between Academy governor Gregory Nava and actress Elsa Cárdenas, who has a supporting role in the film. The first commercial motion picture to take on prejudice and racial intolerance toward Mexican Americans, “Giant” received a total of 10 Academy Award® nominations and earned George Stevens his second Directing Oscar.
- The Third Season of MASTERS OF ILLUSION will debut on Friday night, May 20, 2016 on The CW starting at 8:00 p.m. Pacific/Eastern/7:00 p.m. Central with two 30-minute episodes airing back to back,
